In a lot of cases, you already have a facebook widget on your site. That can be from a previous campaign or it could be the default facebook widget that comes with a new client template.
In either case, this support article deals with your need to change the facebook page that the widget is pointing to.
- The first step is to see if you have a BU canned macro or a custom widget
- Go to the respective item in your website manage area - e.g. homepage or sidebar
- Click edit
- Go into advanced mode
- You should see something along these lines:
<div class="fb-like-box" data-href="%%facebookurl%%" data-width="300" data-height="280" data-show-faces="false" data-stream="true" data-border-color="ffffff" data-header="false"></div>
In the above code, the facebook macro is this: %%facebookurl%%. And this should tell you that you have a canned BU widget. Good news. This will be easy...
When you see this, the widget is dynamically pulling your facebook page from your site preferences.
To fix, all you have to do is update the location of your facebook page in your site preferences:
- Go to the Website Configuration area
- Click the tab called Preferences
Scroll to the area called Social Preferences
- In the item for FaceBook Page Url, paste your desired URL in the text box
- Click save.
If your facebook widget contained the facebook macro, as indicated above, your facebook item on your site should automatically be updated. You will need to click refresh though to see it.
However, if, after you've reviewed your facebook item and it looks more like this:
<iframe src="//www.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Ffriendsofdowconstantine&width=250&height=395&show_faces=false&colorscheme=light&stream=true&show_border=false&header=false" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:250px; height:395px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
Then in this case, your facebook widget is custom and it will require a new custom widget to be built and populated into your site. In this case, Please refer to this help resource here (http://support.blueutopia.com/entries/212911-How-do-I-add-a-Facebook-feed-to-my-site-) to learn how to create a new widget from the facebook developers area.
