If you are raising enough money online, it may make sense to go through the cost and hassle of getting your own merchant account and upgrading to our Custom Online Donations system.
The very first thing you will need is your own merchant account. Most – but not all – merchant accounts are ‘open’ systems, meaning they will work with any gateway processing agent. Beware that some are not. Your merchant account must be compatible with Authorize.Net. Our online donation software was written to work with this gateway processor so this is imperative. In a lot of cases, the banking institution that provides your merchant account will often bundle a gateway account with your merchant. As long as it is Authorize.Net, you’re all set. If not, you will need to acquire an account, which can be done in two ways: 1) you can go directly to an Authorize.Net reseller from the list above, or 2) we can acquire one for you. Regardless of whether you get one from a reseller or through us, there is a cost associated with a gateway account. If we acquire it for you there is a $200 charge, but we will perform all the configuration which can be somewhat cumbersome.
If you acquired a merchant account that came with an Authorize.Net gateway account, or if you acquire and configure one independently, simply get your Authorize.Net sign-on information and call our office and speak to a sales person.

Secondly, you will need to change your subscription level here at Blue Utopia and authorize a one-time setup fee of the custom system.
